The City of Plainview Police Department is comprised of the following areas:

Personnel

The Department consists of 34 full-time sworn officers, six public safety dispatchers and two records clerks / administrative assistants. Twenty-two of the officers are assigned to patrol and traffic, three of the officers are assigned to support services (training, recruiting, hiring, internal affairs and telecommunications) and eight of the officers are assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division.

Mission Statement

The mission of the City of Plainview Police Department is to effectively and efficiently provide for the protection of lives and property, preserve the public peace, and provide needed community services with the highest level of professionalism and ethical standards.

The Law Enforcement Accreditation Program is a voluntary process in which police agencies prove their compliance with 170 Texas Law Enforcement Best Practices. It was developed by Texas Law Enforcement professionals to assist agencies in the efficient and effective delivery of service, the reduction of risk and the protection of individual's rights. 

Plainview was first accredited in 2016 and is one of approximately 180 Texas Law Enforcement Agencies to have received accreditation.
