[ARCHIVED] Code Enforcement Sweep begins Mon., Oct. 7th

Sweep Map

To keep Plainview safe and free from various nuisance violations, the City of Plainview Code Enforcement Department will begin conducting a sweep – a concerted effort to address a variety of existing code violations – beginning Monday, October 7th.

The sweeps will begin in an area from SW 3rd Street to 12th Street, Highway 194 on the west side of the city and Quincy Street to Andy Taylor Road.

The sweeps provide an opportunity to educate citizens of possible violations and allow citizens the opportunity to address them. Citizens in the area will be sent notification letters detailing the type of code enforcement violations to be addressed, along with information about Loan-A-Tub placement.

Concerted nuisance violations for the sweep include tree limbs over streets, inoperable or junked vehicles, improperly parked vehicles, accumulation of rubbish such as trash, refuse, junk, lumber, and other abandoned materials, obstructed views of street corners, overgrown weeds or grass and scrap tires.

Loan-A-Tubs will be stationed Regional Park, (2nd and Floydada), Water Treatment Plant, (16th and Holliday) and the corner of Garland and Kermit in Westgate, beginning Monday, October 7th through Friday, October 11th

Items that will be allowed at the drop-off include: Furniture, Small Appliances, Household Items, Trash/Debris, Tree Limbs/Grass Clippings, and Electronics (no batteries) including TVs, microwaves, computers and other items considered as E-Waste. No commercial dumping will be allowed.

Since 2019, the City of Plainview Code Enforcement has conducted twelve sweeps covering every section of town at least twice. The selection of neighborhoods follows a rotation list to ensure all areas are included.

For more information about the sweep or any nuisance violations, contact the Code Enforcement Department at 806.296.1100.
