The Unger Memorial Library received re-accreditation from the Texas State Library and Archives Commission (TSLAC) and will continue as a qualified member of the Texas Library System for the 2026 state fiscal year.
Accreditation affirms Unger Memorial Library’s continued commitment to meeting statewide standards and providing valuable resources for the Plainview and Hale County community. As an accredited library, Unger Memorial Library remains eligible for a wide range of statewide programs and services, including:
• Statewide Interlibrary Loan (ILL): request books and materials from libraries across Texas
• TexShare Card: borrowing privileges at more than 450 participating Texas libraries
• TexShare Databases: access to electronic resources including academic journals, genealogy tools, career information, Sanborn maps, teaching resources, and Spanish-language content
• E-Read Texas: a diverse collection of e-books
• Summer Library Program Materials: resources for youth and teen programming
• E-Rate and Other Funding Opportunities: programs that support library technology and services
This year’s accreditation badge features the mascot of the Texas Armadillo Network, highlighting the importance of interlibrary loan as both a benefit and a requirement of accreditation. The badge will be displayed at the library and on its website.
