What is the difference between Main Street and Plainview Downtown Association?
Main Street is a program ran through the Texas Historical Commission’s Texas Main Street program. Plainview receives the designation of a “Main Street City” through various activities and receives support from the organization. The Main Street Board members apply for positions and are elected by the City Council for a two year term and monies used for the program come from the City’s general fund. The Plainview Downtown Association is a 501(c)3 organization with membership that includes downtown businesses, property owners and community individuals passionate about downtown. Money is received from membership dues and anyone is welcome to become a member. Both organizations work together to promote downtown.
