Sealcoating, or pavement sealing, is the process of applying a protective coating to asphalt-based pavements to provide a layer of protection from the elements such as water, oils, and U.V. damage.

All vehicles will need to be removed from the curb during the process. Residents whose streets will be seal coated will also receive a notice via door fliers the day before work begins.
The seal coat tentative streets include:

  • 16th Street between Joliet Street and Columbia Street
  • 16th Street between Kermit Drive and Mesa Drive
  • 17th Street near Kermit Drive
  • Kirchwood Drive between Westridge Road and I-27
  • Kirchwood Drive between Ennis Street and I-27 including S. Jefferson, S. Itasca, S. Holliday, S. Garland and S. Floydada
  • Kirchwood Place #1
  • Kirchwood Place #2
  • Yucca Terrace Road
  • Karen Lane
  • SW 7th near Westridge Road
  • Wood Avenue between East 24th & 34th Street

A map of the seal coat area can also be found on the City of Plainview’s website –

Depending on progress, roads will be completed faster if application is going well. All roads may be rescheduled a day before or after their scheduled day depending on performance of materials. Residents in the area will be notified of any changes. Please use caution while in these areas.
