The City of Plainview will host a farewell reception honoring City Manager Jeffrey Snyder and his family on Tuesday, December 10th, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at City Hall, 202 W. 5th Street. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.
During his decade-long tenure, Snyder worked closely with the City Council, city staff, and community leaders on many strategic priorities to position Plainview for growth and redevelopment. These initiatives included projects ranging from economic development and quality of life to infrastructure and future water planning.
In 2017, along with a 30-member citizen advisory board, a $25 million bond package was approved by voters for the construction of a new City Hall, police headquarters, fire station, downtown streetscape, Aquatics Center and the reconstruction of 24th Street.
Snyder began his career as City Manager of Idalou before serving as Assistant City Manager in Plainview and eventually being appointed City Manager. In January, he will take on a new role as Assistant Director with the Texas Municipal League Intergovernmental Risk Pool (TMLIRP).
Snyder received a Master of Public Administration from Texas Tech University, a Bachelor’s in Public Administration/Political Science from West Texas A&M University and is a Credentialed Manager through the International City/County Management Association. He has served on the Texas Municipal League Intergovernmental Risk Pool and Texas Municipal League Boards and serves as the TCMA Manager in Residence to Texas Tech University Master of Public Administration Program.
Locally, Snyder is a member of the Plainview Lion’s Club, Chamber Ambassadors, past chair of the Plainview Covenant Hospital Governing Board and past YMCA Board Member and volunteer coach. Jeffrey and his wife, Mika, have three children – Sawyer, Bowen and Griffin.
