[ARCHIVED] FREE Microchip Clinic, Sat. July 13th

Free Microchip Clinic

The City of Plainview Animal Management will hold a FREE microchip clinic on Saturday, July 13th beginning at 10:00 a.m. at 622 Ash Street. The chips are available first come, first serve while supplies last.

What is a microchip?
A small electronic chip enclosed in a cylinder the size of a grain of rice. It is activated by a scanner and transmits the identification number to the scanner.

Is it painful to my pet?
It is no more painful than a typical injection. No surgery or anesthesia is required. Most dogs don’t even notice when it happens.

What does the microchip do?
When an animal is taken to a shelter or vet, it is scanned. If it has a microchip, they are able to immediately contact the owners via the information received from the microchip company.

Why should I get my pet microchipped?
The best reason to have your animals microchipped is the improved chance that you’ll get your animal back if it becomes lost or stolen.

For more information, contact Animal Management at 806-296-1182.
